Spencer Jordan was born and brought up in Leicester. After university, he spent much of the 1990s in Bristol working on an historical research project, in the course of which he completed a PhD. After several years spent teaching, Spencer moved to Cardiff in 2003. His interests include getting out and about in various ways. Journeys in the Dead Season is his first novel and is dedicated to his English teacher, John Atkins. In January 2008 Spencer was elected a full member of the Academi; he is also a member of the Society of Authors.
